First layer of meaning

The meaning of "意思" in Chinese (in its most common sense) 

It refers to the literal meaning of a sentence or action. It also includes translations between different languages.

For example:

The Chinese word "你好" (nǐ hǎo) means "Hello" in English.

The second example:

在中国,喝茶的时候的叩手礼意思就是对冲茶人的尊重。

In China, the hand-tapping gesture when drinking tea signifies respect for the person preparing the tea.
